The Jüdische Kulturbund Project explores the dilemmas that Jewish artists faced in Germany back in the 1930s and early 1940s and contemporary artists confront around the world today. Fight for freedom or escape? What is your moral obligation? What do you do as an intellectual artist living in a tyrannical state: do you risk your life to fight tyranny or do you escape your country because the gifts you have are more valuable to the entire world? This eternal question is still relevant in places like Afghanistan, China, Uganda, and anywhere artists with dissenting beliefs or messages face persecution or even death.
