Juba Documentary Filmmaking Workshop — Curriculum
Juba Documentary Filmmaking Workshop — Finished Films

A 12-week virtual documentary filmmaking workshop, led by Gail Prensky, for emerging filmmakers in Juba, South Sudan. Each participants’ films will be entered for the Juba Film Festival in December 2021.

Congratulations to emerging filmmaker Patrick Nyarsuk for winning three awards at the 2021 Juba Film Festival!

Congratulations to emerging filmmaker Emmanuel Tom for winning the awards for ‘Best Documentary Film’ at the 2021 Juba Film Festival!

Each week 10 emerging filmmakers in South Sudan virtually met over Zoom with their mentor, Gail Prensky, in the United States.  The filmmakers shared and discussed the short documentary films they committed to produce over a 12-week period. Some days the poor Internet connection staggered audio and video and at other times electricity was down.  Despite these challenges, the workshop participants prevailed.   Here are highlights from this workshop series.
